The History of Alpine Quest Sports
Alpine Quest Sports was founded by Sean and Cory Glackin in 2005. When they decided to retire, it was important to find someone who would retain the vibe of the community’s staple backcountry shop, a place that is accessible and approachable for both locals and visitors.
Jon and Wendy Rehnborg bought Alpine Quest Sports in the fall of 2023. They are proud to maintain the store’s staff and spirit of accessible adventure. Since the transition, the store has retained its core team and still carries the same wide selection of high-quality backcountry gear you can’t find anywhere else in the Vail Valley.

In June, Sean and Cory Glackin put out the word that they’d like to sell Alpine Quest Sports, a shop that specializes in outdoor equipment that they’d been operating for about 20 years, to another local. That word made it around town and Jon Rehnborg answered the call.
